London takes New Year’s Eve very seriously. After all, the world is watching. The Mayor of London’s phenomenal firework display is beamed all over the globe and Londoners are fiercely proud of being a brilliant place to welcome the new year in style.

Of course, there’s plenty more happening on New Year’s Eve in London, so we’ve rounded up some of the best of the best, from a medieval banquet to getting down with drag royalty.

    London’s world-famous fireworks

Tickets for the best viewing areas may have been snapped up months ago, but that doesn’t mean anyone has to miss out. Ever resourceful, Londoners have found all kinds of ways to enjoy the show without joining the shivering crowds on Waterloo Bridge.

    Watch from the river

On New Year’s Eve the Thames is adorned with dozens of glittering cruise boats, all with a great view of the fireworks. Or, if you fancy the James Bond experience, you could always go for a speedboat.

    Watch from on high

Head for the hills with your cosiest coat and a flask of boozy hot chocolate. We think the best views are from Alexandra Palace, Primrose Hill, and Parliament Hill or Hampstead Heath.

    Watch from your apartment

Of course, there’s no view in town that can compete with HD cameras on helicopters. So, pop a bottle of bubbly, snuggle on the sofa or even have a little soirée of your own – just don’t forget to turn on BBC One at five to midnight.

Cool and quirky New Year’s Eves

If you’re staying in Native Canary Wharf…

Head to the Munich Cricket Club restaurant and bar, which is hosting a German-style New Year’s Eve bash, complete with beer, bratwursts, schnitzel and schnapps. It’s only a 19 minute walk from Native Canary Wharf.

If you’re staying at one of our City aparthotels…

Party like it’s 1399 at the Ivory Vaults, where you’ll enjoy a six-course Medieval banquet. Order a mead or two from your serving wench as you watch knights, jesters, dancers and acrobats perform in your honour. You’re only a short stumble from one of our City of London apartments.

If you’re staying in Native Covent Garden…

Crash one of the best parties in town at Blame Gloria in Soho, only a 3 minute walk from Native Covent Garden. Glam it up, come dressed as your favourite rock star and get ready for a night to remember. Or not. As they say about the sixties – if you remember it, you weren’t there.

If you’re staying at Native Bankside…

Party with RuPaul’s Drag Race winner Raja at the gorgeous LaLiT Ballroom for the party of the decade. Expect an utterly debauched “eleganza extravaganza”, with great music, bubbly and a four-course Pan-Indian dinner. Here you’re only an 18 minute walk back to bed at Native Bankside.
